Breathing Re-education
Breathe easy;
Sleep well!
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) can be a result of dysfunctional breathing or myofunctional disorders, such as improper tongue rest posture or floppy throat tissues. A sleep physician can diagnose the type of disorder from a home sleep test (HST) or an in-lab study or polysomnogram (PSG). Alongside collaboration with your physician & sleep & TMJ dentist, myofunctional therapy can improve breathing patterns, establish proper oral rest posture, tone floppy tissues, and help keep the tongue muscles out of the airway at night. Optimal sleep is vital for physical & mental well-being.
